The colors of the Troop 881's Neckerchiefs and T-shirts:

In 1973, while hiking in Lake Accotink Park, Troop 881's Scouts discovered the forgotten Orange and Alexandria Railroad and subsequently sponsored the O&A Historical Trail which is an 11.5 mile hiking/biking trail, starting at Springfield Station and ending at Fairfax Station. In 1976, the troop began using the Orange color for its Neckerchiefs and T-Shirts. The black O&A Historical Trail logo was used on the troop's  Neckerchiefs and T-shirts.

In 2008, the Scouts chose Forest Green and Gold  for the troop's Necknerchiefs and T-shirts. These colors  hold significant meaning for the troop and the individual Scouts. In the Native American tradition, the green color represents youth and vitality, and the gold color signifies overcoming all hardships. The O&A Historical Trail logo in gold is sewn to the T-shirt's right sleeve to show pride in the troop's history.
